WRUP: Regime Change Version

Regular readers of the positioning know that the higher administration is being shifted around right here at Massively, which means that Brianna Royce will now be in charge. Whereas we'll always miss Shawn Schuster's unmistakable voice and work on the location, the change will seemingly appear invisible to most readers.

I, for one, would like to welcome our new overlord, for whom I don't have anything however respect and admiration. By complete coincidence, this week's header picture occurs to be of her favourite animal. Additionally, I may have despatched plenty of reward baskets of fruit to her home. And I'm certain we are able to all agree that earlier cases of tomfoolery shouldn't be taken into account when she now considers that she has full power over me.

Shifting on from the welcoming of overlords, it's time for this week's installment of WRUP, featuring the Massively staff explaining our plans for the weekend as well as whether or not or not a graphical upgrade would bring us again to our first MMOs. Check out our plans past the break, and let us know what you'll be up to within the comments!

@Beau_Hindman: I will be settling down on a new deed in Wurm On-line, persevering with to grind my teeth as I await my new Pc to get right here, and placing my exploration money the place my mouth is by finally downloading IMVU. It's a social MMO that looks very... completely different. I'm also still gathering my listing of pre-World of Warcraft MMOs for protection. Luckily I still have most of my old accounts!

If I up to date any graphics for some of my favorite games, that might imply a downgrade for lots of them. I would like graphics which are more stylized, notably like those in Free Realms or Clone Wars Adventures. I would love to see a "serious" sport accomplished with a more stylized aptitude. Wurm On-line can keep how it's, however I really wish to see some new avatars. I do know they're coming, however boy, I can not wait!

@nyphur: This weekend I'll be entertaining a visiting Swedish pal from my outdated World of Warcraft guild, working laborious on Predestination, and trying to convince my housemates to play extra Guild Wars 2!

My first MMO was RuneScape, and its graphical updates have truly introduced me back a number of occasions. I began again when it was a blocky world with 2-D goblin sprites, and the primary large 3-D replace hooked me back in for a number of months. I've returned periodically to see what the sport is like, and the graphics are positively the very first thing I search for. EVE On-line has the identical impact, with giant graphical updates pulling people back in to attempt the game again.

@nbrianna: I will be dividing my game time between Guild Wars 2 and City of Heroes. Double XP is on permanently in CoH, I hear, so it is the perfect time to roll up a brand new character in time for the Positron's Ally event next week.

My first MMO was Ultima On-line, and graphical upgrades did deliver me back many instances. That sport has had more improved purchasers than any MMO I know... however those upgraded shoppers often get abandoned by the workforce earlier than they're completed because many of the veterans just refuse to change. Very irritating!

@Eliot_Lefebvre: City of Heroes, Star Wars: The Outdated Republic, and the ever-standard Offering Help to a Beloved One with a Cold. Sooner or later I'll truly play Guild Wars 2 for greater than 10 minutes at a stretch. If I am lucky, it is going to be earlier than the top of the decade.

I am really the improper person to ask about returning to a game for a graphical upgrade because graphics have never been what's turned me off from a sport. I didn't initially go away Ultimate Fantasy XI due to the graphics; I left as a result of the game wasn't truly fun to play. If I see indicators that the game I didn't like X amount of time in the past has gotten better, I'll come running proper back, however placing a brand new coat of paint on a sport I wasn't enjoying would not lure me again.

@elixabethclaire: The key World continues to be on pause for me as I devote my time to Guild Wars 2. I'd prefer to hit eighty by the middle of the upcoming week, so I will be doing a lot of PvE and WvW this weekend. I didn't imply to, however I've obtained a complete agenda plotted out for my temporary "predominant" after she hits 80, not to mention somewhat roster of who's in need of leveling after her.

Not a lot gaming for me this weekend. Possibly some The secret World.

I go back and play all of my previous MMOs anyway regardless of updates, although I'm very much wanting forward to Anarchy Online's eventual reskin.

@Sypster: My MMO to do listing is a mile broad at this level. I actually need to put a cap on Volume III Guide 6 in Lord of the Rings On-line, try the new Autumn Festival in RIFT, get through Egypt in The secret World, and make the large bucks in Guild Wars 2.

As for graphical upgrades, effectively, if Anarchy Online ever will get that newfangled redux off the bottom, then you'll be able to wager I will be first in line. It'd be great to see what a barely extra updated AO would appear to be.

@JayeRnH: This weekend I am busy with a household journey, however in any spare time I have, I'm going to log into RIFT and cling out subsequent to Atrophinius within the Autumn occasion just to hear his hilarious voice-overs. Aside from that, I will most likely pop into Minecraft with the kids so we can work on our tree house.

My first MMO was EverQuest, and I would be extra likely to return if the sport really reverted again to the old graphics of avatars and revamped zones.

@mvmatt: This weekend is my roommate's birthday, so we have bought some mutual mates coming to stay for the weekend. Consequently, my gaming time is probably going to be occupied extra by break up-screen mayhem than MMO funtimes. But when the chance arises, I'll be splitting my time between The secret World and Guild Wars 2.

And would I go back to EverQuest or Ultima Online if both one received a graphical update? That's an excellent query. I want to say yes, but I don't know if I would be telling the truth. I liked UO and EQ again in the day, but I feel it might take a bit greater than a graphical upgrade to make me a participant again. For every charmingly dated feature that I fondly remember, there's a plethora of truly archaic design decisions that I don't assume I'd be ready to put up with.

@MJ_Guthrie: Oh my gosh! I get to recreation this weekend!! *nearly faints with excitement* How much can I cram in? Let's see, the vote won't be in for Select my Journey, so The secret World might be on hold till Monday. (By the way, go vote!). To fill my weekend, I'm going to dive into GW2 extra (I actually need to take a look at an Asura), start plotting extra for my EverQuest II neighborhood procuring district as well as take in a couple of dungeons, and spread my wings in Aion to finish up some quests and perhaps even get a couple of rounds of PvP Arenas in. I additionally plan on eating pizza. Mmm.

I would return in the event that they'd turn the blasted servers again on! (RIP Star Wars Galaxies.)

@mackeypb: I have been taking part in more Touhou Hisoutensoku (not that any of you recognize what that is), in addition to League of Legends. I'm at the moment carrying as Graves, although I'm fairly sure those studying my column already know that. It feels good to play more airdash fighters, although; I feel like a little bit of a void has been stuffed in my gamer heart.

To ensure that me to go back to EQ, it could take a greater sport, not a graphical update. Actually, graphical updates imply virtually nothing to me. If the same EQ graphics as in 2000 had been on prime of the GW2 engine, I'd nonetheless be down for taking part in it. High-high quality graphics are a bonus, not a necessity.

@terilynns: I might be leaping into Star Trek Online this weekend to play a number of Foundry missions to discuss on my UGC podcast. I will also be in Lord of the Rings Online as I discover it very stress-free to farm and craft in that game. If time permits, I shall be again in Glitch as effectively. And yes, the rumors are true: Some persons are twisting my arm to present Guild Wars 2 a attempt. I'd pick it up this weekend.

I am really glad this week's query doesn't apply to me.  minecraft server lists My first MMO remains to be my favourite, and it is an attractive recreation -- Star Trek Online!

At first of each weekend, we catch up with the Massively workers members and ask them, "What are you taking part in this week?" (In any other case often known as: WRUP!) Be part of us to see what we're as much as in and out of recreation -- and catch us within the feedback to let us know what you are playing, too!
